Tufted Floor Rug Workshop
SumiYuri Studio founder, Yayoi Filipski, will be leading a hands on tufting workshop where you’ll design and create your own unique floor rug!

This class is limited to 6 participants only, allowing for focused, personalized instruction. Lessons will be taught in both English and Japanese, so everyone can feel comfortable joining.
This will be the last workshop of the year, so don’t miss out!

Sunday, October 19th | 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm (4 hours)
Since most of the work is done standing, we recommend wearing comfortable clothes you can move easily in.

What you’ll create:
• Approx. 23” x 23” rug (any shape, any design).
• We provide design templates for inspiration, but please prepare your own design in advance so you can draw it onto the canvas during class and finish on time.
• Choose from our curated set of 30 beautiful colors of premium New Zealand wool, the highest-quality wool, lasting 10–15 years.
Reservation & Payment:
Your seat will be secured once payment is completed through the link below. As this is a special event, venue costs are included in the fee.
Cancellation Policy:
• Same-day cancellations: 100% fee
• 1–10 days before the workshop: 50% fee
• No cancellation fee if you transfer your ticket to someone you know (both you and the new participant must notify us by email).
Extra Time & Finishing:
If you cannot finish within the scheduled 4 hours :
• Additional studio time may be available (shared fee of $120/hour , $60/30mins among participants).
• If the rug is still not complete, the instructor can finish it for you for $100 per person.
To avoid delays, please finalize your design before class.
Design Guidelines:
• First-time participants should avoid very detailed or tiny patterns or designs , as they may damage the canvas.
• We recommend using around 10 colors.
• Designs will be drawn by hand on the canvas, but don’t worry — the artist will assist if needed.
• If you’d like design advice beforehand, feel free to email us.
Rug Pickup & Shipping:
• Your rug will need glue applied to the back which takes about 48 hours to dry. Rugs will be ready for pickup or shipping, and delivery will take around two weeks.
• Free pickup in Manhattan LES.
• Shipping available via USPS for about $35.
